Casa de Soto Restaurant
opened in February of 1973.
Tony Soto and his
wife Carol began developing the recipes and menu at their two
previous restaurants; Kona Kai Mexicana (1965 - 69) and Jai-Alai
Mexican Restaurant (1969 - 71).
Tony was a fixture
at Casa de Soto until his sudden passing while on vacation in
his native Spain in 1998. Since then, his son Luis has continued
the Casa de Soto tradition with a lot of help. Many of the great
staff have been with Casa de Soto for 20 - 25 years.
“Regulars”
range from guests of the Kona Kai & Jai-Alai, along with
second and third generation family members (many who now show
their children “mommy” or “daddy” among
the youth baseball and soccer pictures in the lobby); to the
“neighbors & locals” who recently began to call
“Casa” or “CdS” their favorite Mexican
restaurant!
Apart from some additions
through the years, the menu has remained consistent. From the
tacos & tamales to the corn chips, even the salad dressings
and margarita mix are still prepared in “Casa”.
